Mohaka Marissa Rajasekhara

Mohaka Marissa Rajasekhara started learning Bharathanatya from Sheela Rani Rajasekhara, her mother and Guru, at the age of 5. In 2003, Dr. Vasundhara Doraswamy, saw talent in the budding artist and agreed to become her Guru and enhance her talents and capabilities. With her Gurus’ guidance, Marissa performed her Rangapravesha in 2010 at the Jagan Mohan Palace in Mysore, India. In August 2013, she performed a 3-hour solo Bharatanatya Recital at the Rouse Center for the Performing Arts in Columbia, MD.

Marissa, has performed at numerous events to glowing reviews and admiration from the many audiences. Among the most notable performances were for the following organizations: US Dept. of Education, US State Dept., Kaveri, Veerashaiva Samaja of North America, JSS Spiritual Mission, Indian Association of Frederick and AKKA.

Marissa is a sophomore attending High Point University in North Carolina.
