Uma Subrayan

Uma is a high school senior in the Math, Science, and Technology program in DuPont Manual High School. Uma started her Bharatanatyam instruction when she was 6 years old in Stamford, CT under Smt. Kavitha Kuppuswamy and Dr. Francis Barboza. When she moved to Louisville, she joined Smitha Paily’s dance class. In 2012, Uma started taking lessons with Smt. Preethy Neeraj in Kerala, India in the Kalakshethra style. In 2013, she got the opportunity to dance in front of Lord Krishna at Guruvayoor Temple in Kerala. She has performed Bharathanatyam dance on many occasions both in Stamford and Louisville.

Uma is the President of the French National Honor Society and Vice President of the French Scrabble Club at DuPont Manual. She is also a member of the Beta Club, National Honor Society, and French Club. Uma is a figure skater and a Silver Medalist in the ice dancing test series. In her spare time, she volunteers as a tutor at MathWizard and her skating rink, and she is a volunteer at Baptist East Hospital.
